Waikanae Estuary Care Group is a community of volunteers restoring and protecting the Waikanae River estuary: its native plants, its wildlife and the shoreline we all enjoy.
Waikanae Estuary Care Group Incorporated is a registered New Zealand charity (CC59740) based in Paraparaumu on the Kāpiti Coast.
The Waikanae River estuary is a special place where fresh water meets the sea. Its sand dunes, wetlands, lagoons and mudflats are home to native plants and to many birds, including migratory shorebirds that travel thousands of kilometres to feed here.
Our volunteers work to restore native vegetation, control weeds and pests, and help people enjoy the estuary while protecting it for future generations.
